Oak Whiskey Barrels

WHAT WERE THEY USED FOR?

All of these barrels spent several years aging rye bourbon and whiskey. Some received a second calling as aging vessels for high-point, small-batch, craft beer. Drained of their heavenly “spirits”, now they’re available for a third-life. We like to think of it as “three-use”.

ARE THEY WATERTIGHT?

Some certainly are, although many of these barrels have been air-dried, and shrunk a bit, breaking the seam where the wood slats come together. Some barrels can be rehydrated to hold liquids. We cannot guarantee water-tightness and all barrels are sold “As Is”. Call us today to discuss your needs and our current inventory.

ARE THEY HEAVY? HOW BIG ARE THEY?

They weigh between 90 and 120 pounds depending on how long they’ve been drying. They are made of 1" thick white oak, charred on the inside and held together by steel bands on the outside. They are 35” tall, 26” in diameter at mid-point, and 21” diameter at the top and bottom. They have a 53-gallon internal capacity.

IS THERE BEER OR WHISKEY STILL IN THEM?

No. All liquids have been drained out. They do have a wonderful aroma however, which makes them a great addition to your man-cave, BBQ smoker, or perhaps an enticing potpourri… how lovely!

DO THE BARRELS HAVE ANY BRANDING OR LOGOS ON THEM?

Most have a small, painted label on the top from various distilleries. For volume purchases, we cannot guarantee a particular “brand” or logo when you purchase.

CAN YOU CUT THE BARRELS IN HALF FOR ME?

Yes, we cut barrels and have many on hand regularly. We can also do length-wise cut half barrels, but 24-hours notice is needed to make these.

WHAT CAN USED WHISKEY BARRELS BE REPURPOSED AS?

They have dozens of uses. Your creativity is the only limit! Here are some suggestions: planters or urban vegetable gardens, unique furniture (table, chairs, wine bottle holders, etc.), rainwater collection, bar top, liquor cabinet, use the slats to make home accessories, BBQ smoking wood/charcoal briquettes, cut longwise and make into a baby cradle, decorations for your “vintage” themed wedding, cut a hole in the top and turn into a dog kennel, wood flooring, or whatever your creativity can dream up. DO YOU RENT YOUR WHISKEY BARRELS FOR SPECIAL EVENTS?

Yes! We maintain a special inventory for wedding and event rentals. Former whiskey barrels are great accents to a rustic-themed wedding or celebration. Rental pricing is for pickup. Delivery can be arranged for a reasonable fee.

HOW CAN I PAY? WHAT ABOUT VOLUME PURCHASES?

We prefer cash, but also accept debit/check cards, all major credit cards, and certified check. We can accommodate large orders and offer a discount for larger purchases (see pricing sheet above). Please provide advance notice from the date you need them to ensure inventory.

HOW DO I GET MY BARRELS?

We are located at 36 WEST FAYETTE AVE, UNIT 1, SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84101 (970 South, between Main and West Temple). Please visit us Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9am to 6pm.

WHY BUY SPENT WHISKEY BARRELS FROM YOU INSTEAD OF ELSEWHERE?

BUY LOCAL – You’ll support a small Utah company, not an Amazonian-sized corporation.

BETTER VALUE – You’ll pay less than what you can get them for elsewhere, guaranteed!

MORE USES – Bought whole, they can be cut to the size you need, or transformed into some other creative function.

BACKGROUND – These barrels have unique stories and make great conversation starters. Besides, e-barrels are so 2010.

HELP THE ENVIRONMENT – This material would otherwise go to the landfill or wood chipper. Repurposing keeps our planet greener by eliminating landfill waste and the energy needed to make a new item with the same usefulness. Plus, they’re biodegradable (thanks Nature!)
