Used in a variety of industrial, manufacturing and various other operations, you may recognize them from the movies, in scenes where hapless bad guys run headlong or are roundhouse kicked into piles of them. In this case, these once-used plastic drums were part of a local distillery's production line, or an enormous local bakery's industrial kitchen. Repurposed, they are the perfect item for around-the-home projects and needs. Whether you need them for storage, rain water capture, garden planters, animal feed and/or water troughs, or simply because you can't get enough cylindrical plastic in your life, these are the perfect solution. Both traditional bright blue and opaque white drums are available, all with fixed lids and threaded caps.
Food-grade HDPE plastic.
All drums hold 55 gallons of fluid.
Good to very good. All will require rinsing prior to use; some are unsuitable for drinking water storage.
Some were for storage of vinegar, cooking oil or mineral oil, or other commercial cooking fluids, and some held industrial cleaning fluids. A good rinsing is recommended prior to use. Some drums may require an application of a dish-washing soap, such as Dawn, prior to use.
No logos, but may have a label or two.
Some have repurposed them as rain barrels, but they are also great for food storage, vegetable planters, feed troughs, or whatever your creativity can dream up. Know of another repurpose idea for this reclaimed material? Share it HERE
